Discipleship Course
As a church we believe that as it says in Acts 4:12 “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” NLT. Jesus is the one who brings salvation and we have not been asked to make Christians as it is not a work of man, but of God through his Son, Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. However according to Matthew 28:18-20 we have been called to make disciples.
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Discipleship is not just a program, course or a teaching, but a life, lived out in community and through the body. However this course is an introduction, in the form of learning community, to help us understand and live out some of the basics of what it means to be a disciple. Each course is 5 sessions long and there are two to date, discipleship 1 and discipleship 2.
The course looks at subjects like: Identity, Rhythms, Modelling, Knowing our gifts and Learning to follow Jesus. The next course will start in the Autumn 2023. Dates and venue to be confirmed.
